Wellness Programs

In addition to chiropractic adjustments, Restored Balance Chiropractic Center offers wellness programs designed to promote long-term health. These programs include nutritional guidance, movement plans, and stress management techniques.

Additonal conditions that can benefit from care:

Fibromyalgia

Chiropractic care can help fibromyalgia patients by addressing musculoskeletal pain, improving mobility, and enhancing overall nervous system function. Here’s how it can be beneficial:

1. Pain Relief

  • Chiropractic adjustments may help reduce muscle tension and improve spinal alignment, which can relieve some of the widespread pain associated with fibromyalgia.
  • Soft tissue techniques, such as myofascial release, can help reduce trigger point sensitivity and muscle stiffness.

2. Improved Nervous System Function

  • Since chiropractic care focuses on spinal health, adjustments may help improve nervous system communication, which can reduce pain perception and improve overall body function.

3. Increased Mobility and Flexibility

  • Fibromyalgia often causes joint  stiffness and limited range of motion. Gentle spinal adjustments and stretching exercises prescribed by a chiropractor may help improve movement.

4. Stress Reduction and Better Sleep

  • Chiropractic treatments may help reduce stress and promote relaxation, which can lead to better sleep quality—important since fibromyalgia patients often suffer from sleep disturbances.

5. Holistic Approach

  • Many chiropractors also recommend lifestyle changes, nutritional counseling, and exercises that complement treatment, providing a more comprehensive approach to managing fibromyalgia symptoms.

While chiropractic care is not a cure for fibromyalgia, many patients report symptom relief and improved quality of life with regular treatments. However, it's crucial to find a chiropractor experienced in working with fibromyalgia patients, as overly aggressive adjustments could worsen symptoms.

Dr. Tracey Ramirez has over 30 years of experience working with fibromyalgia patients.

Chronic Fatigue/ ME

Chiropractic care may help individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) by addressing potential musculoskeletal and nervous system imbalances. While it is not a cure, some people report improvements in symptoms such as fatigue, pain, and brain fog. Here are some potential benefits:

1. Nervous System Support

  • Chiropractic adjustments focus on improving spinal alignment, which may enhance nervous system function. Since the nervous system controls energy production and healing processes, improved function could help reduce fatigue and cognitive issues.

2. Pain Relief

  • Many individuals with CFS/ME experience muscle pain, joint stiffness, and headaches. Chiropractic care, including gentle spinal adjustments and soft tissue  therapies, may help alleviate discomfort and improve mobility.

3. Reduced Inflammation

  • Misalignments in the spine (subluxations) can contribute to inflammation and immune dysfunction, which are common in CFS/ME. Chiropractic adjustments may help modulate the body's inflammatory response.

4. Improved Sleep Quality

  • Poor sleep is a major issue for people with CFS/ME. Chiropractic care may help by:
  • Reducing pain that interferes with sleep.
  • Promoting relaxation and balancing the nervous system.
  • Addressing any misalignments that may contribute to sleep disturbances.

5. Increased Energy Levels

  • By improving circulation, nervous system communication, and musculoskeletal balance, chiropractic adjustments may support the body's ability to generate and sustain energy.

6. Stress Reduction & Mental Clarity

  • Spinal adjustments and complementary techniques like massage or craniosacral therapy can help reduce stress and tension, potentially improving brain fog and cognitive function.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Chiropractic care can be beneficial for patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), but it requires a gentle and specialized approach due to the condition’s effects on connective tissue, joints, and overall stability. Here’s how chiropractic can help EDS patients:

1.  Pain Management –

  • Gentle chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work may help alleviate chronic pain from joint instability, muscle tension, and misalignments.

2. Joint Stabilization

  • Chiropractors with experience in hypermobility disorders can use low-force techniques to improve joint function and reduce excessive movement that can lead to subluxations.

3.  Improved  Posture & Alignment

  • Poor posture and spinal misalignment are common in EDS due to weak connective tissue. Chiropractic care can aid in maintaining better spinal health.

4.  Reduction of Muscle Spasms & Tension

  • Soft tissue therapies like myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and gentle stretching can relieve muscle tightness.

5.  Nervous System Support

  • Chiropractic adjustments may help reduce nervous system irritation, potentially benefiting autonomic dysfunction (common in EDS patients, such as POTS).

6.  Headache Relief

  • Many EDS patients suffer from headaches due to neck instability and tension. Gentle chiropractic care can help address this.

Neuralgia & Neuropathy

Chiropractic care can help patients with neuralgia by addressing spinal misalignments, reducing nerve compression, and improving overall nerve function. Here’s how chiropractic treatments may benefit those with neuralgia:

1. Spinal Adjustments

  • Misalignments in the spine(subluxations) can put pressure on nerves, leading to pain and dysfunction. Chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine, reducing      nerve irritation and improving nerve signal transmission.

2. Reducing Nerve Compression

  • Conditions like trigeminal neuralgia or sciatic neuralgia can result from nerve      impingement. Chiropractic adjustments, combined with decompression      therapy, can help relieve this pressure.

3. Improving Blood Flow & Healing

  • Proper spinal alignment enhances blood circulation, ensuring nerves receive the necessary oxygen and nutrients to function optimally.

4. Soft Tissue Therapy & Myofascial Release

  • Chiropractors may use muscle therapy techniques, such as trigger point therapy and myofascial  release, to relax tight muscles that may be aggravating nerve pain.

5. Lifestyle & Postural Guidance

  • Chiropractors provide advice on posture, ergonomics, exercises, and stretches that can help prevent neuralgia flare-ups.

6. Reducing Inflammation

  • Neuralgia can sometimes be aggravated by inflammation. Chiropractors may recommend nutritional  guidance, supplements, and anti-inflammatory treatments to help manage pain.

7. Non-Invasive Pain Management

  • Chiropractic offers a drug-free  alternative for managing neuralgia pain, which can be beneficial for patients looking to avoid medications with potential side effects.
  • Our specialized Myostretching Program combined with our gentle, precise and effective adjusting techniques have had remarkable results in reversing the pain caused by various neuralgia conditions.

Disc Herniations

Chiropractic care can help with disc herniations by addressing spinal misalignments, reducing nerve compression, and promoting natural healing. Here’s how it may be beneficial:

  1. Spinal Decompression – Gentle traction or flexion-distraction techniques can help create space between the vertebrae, reducing pressure on the herniated disc and surrounding nerves.

  2. Pain Relief – Chiropractic adjustments may help alleviate pain by improving spinal alignment and reducing inflammation around the affected area.

  3. Improved Mobility – By restoring proper movement in the spine, chiropractic care can help reduce stiffness and improve overall mobility.

  4. Nerve Function Restoration – When a herniated disc compresses a nerve, it can cause symptoms like pain, tingling, or weakness. Chiropractic adjustments aim to relieve this pressure, allowing nerves to function properly again.

  5. Non-Surgical Approach – Many people seek chiropractic care as an alternative to surgery or heavy medication. It offers a natural approach to healing without invasive procedures.

  6. Postural & Lifestyle Guidance – Chiropractors often provide ergonomic and postural recommendations, along with exercises to strengthen the spine and prevent future issues.

Migraines/Headaches

Chiropractic care can help with migraines and headaches by addressing misalignments in the spine, particularly in the cervical (neck) region. Here’s how it may be beneficial:

  1. Spinal  Alignment – Misalignments (subluxations) in the neck can cause tension and nerve irritation, which may contribute to headaches. Chiropractic      adjustments help realign the spine, reducing pressure on nerves.
  2. Reduced Muscle  Tension – Poor posture, stress, or spinal misalignments can cause tightness in the neck and shoulders, leading to tension headaches. Adjustments, along with soft tissue therapies, can relieve muscle strain.
  3. Improved Blood  Flow – Chiropractic adjustments may improve circulation, ensuring that the brain receives proper oxygen and nutrients, which can reduce headache frequency and severity.
  4. Decreased Nerve  Irritation – When nerves in the cervical spine are compressed or irritated, they can trigger headaches or migraines. Adjustments help alleviate this pressure.
  5. Better Posture  and Ergonomics – Chiropractors often provide guidance on posture, workplace ergonomics, and exercises to reduce headache triggers related to poor spinal alignment.
  6. Reduced Need for Medication – Many people seek chiropractic care as a drug-free alternative to pain relief, avoiding overuse of painkillers.

Studies suggest that chiropractic care, especially spinal manipulative therapy, can help reduce the frequency, duration, and intensity of tension headaches and migraines in some patients. However, results can vary based on the individual and the underlying cause of their headaches.

Lip/Tongue Ties

Chiropractic care and craniosacral therapy (CST) can be beneficial for babies with tongue and lip ties by addressing tension and restrictions in the muscles, fascia, and joints that may be contributing to feeding difficulties. Here’s how these therapies can help:

Chiropractic Care

1. Relieves Tension and Misalignment: Tongue and lip ties can create strain in the baby's neck, jaw, and spine. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can help relieve tension in these areas, improving the baby's ability to move their tongue and jaw properly.

2. Enhances Nervous System Function: By ensuring proper alignment of the spine and cranial bones, chiropractic care may support better nerve signaling, which is essential for sucking, swallowing, and digestion.

3. Supports Recovery Post-Revision: If a baby undergoes a frenectomy (a procedure to release a tongue or lip tie), chiropractic adjustments can help optimize healing by reducing compensatory patterns developed before the revision.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

  1. Releases Fascial Restrictions: The tongue is connected to the entire body through a network of fascia (connective tissue). CST uses gentle, hands-on techniques to  release tension in the cranial bones, jaw, and surrounding muscles, promoting better mobility of the tongue and lips.
  2. Improves  Sucking and Latch: By addressing restrictions in the mouth, jaw, and head, CST can      enhance a baby's ability to latch effectively, making feeding (breastfeeding or bottle-feeding) more efficient and comfortable.
  3. Calms the Nervous System: CST promotes relaxation and can help reduce stress or discomfort, making feeding and digestion easier for the baby.

Why These Therapies Matter for Tongue/Lip Ties

  1. Babies with ties often develop tightness in their jaw, neck, and shoulders due to compensation for limited tongue movement.
  2. Restrictions can lead to issues like colic, reflux, poor weight gain, excessive gas, or difficulty latching.
  3. Addressing structural imbalances  through chiropractic care and CST can help the baby use their tongue more effectively, improving feeding success and overall comfort.

Many parents find that incorporating these therapies, especially in combination with lactation support, can greatly improve feeding challenges related to tongue and lip ties.
